Radio Ads
Every year, Mary Ann Kniebel & I (Barb Downey) record radio ads promoting our annual production sale.  We try to do something different and interesting instead of the standard sale promotional ad everyone and their dog runs.  We have a lot of fun doing it; nothing helps ease the pressure of the 10 days before the sale like sitting down with your buddy and trying to crack each other up.  We have ag people every year who eagerly await the ads (one friend's husband wakes her up during sale week with a smack at ~6:15 am when it airs and says, "Wake up!  It's on!!"  The last couple of years, we've even heard from non-aggies who go to our websites, find the e-mail address and send something along the lines of, "While I don't have cows, I get a kick out of your ads."  That tells us that at least folks are listening, and while some may think our radio antics border on the unprofessional, we at least know they're hearing them. Here's the crop for your listening enjoyment.  Or torture as KFRM's Duane Toews may think!

2021 Ads

WIBW Farmers & Ranchers Appreciation Dinner - we only got 30 seconds instead of 60, so our normal outrageousness was (blessedly?) limited.

2019 Ads

• Monday 2019 - Mary Ann is stressed during the busy fall.
• Tuesday 2019 - The Boomer Sooner Schooner flips on it's way home from the sale!
• Wednesday 2019 - The Russian's are trying to get the VP's son a job on the ranch.

• Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 - The registered heifers call the DRI/KCC complaint department.

• Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017 - Flossie & Bessie are campaigning for a new bull from the DRI/KCC production sale!
  
• Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 - Mary Ann consigns Barb to a hard winter of calving heifers & feeding bulls.
  

2016 Ads

• Monday, Oct. 31, 2016 - It's Halloween! And what could be more scary than making a mistake with your breeding program because of bad markets? Also, there's a "Chipmunk" version, kindly provided by KFRM because Duane Toews thinks our ads would be more effective if they were even sillier.
  
• Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 - Hillary and The Donald held a 4th debate, but were outshone by the bulls and heifers from Downey Ranch and Kniebel Cattle Co.
• Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 - Don't let down markets tempt you into a "Walk on the Wild Side." It's a long-term commitment.

• Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016 - Mary Ann is depressed about the elections. After finding out Anthony Weiner wasn't in charge of video editing for the sale, she cheers up.
  

2015 Ads

• Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 - Inspired by the World Series Champions, the Kansas City Royals, we celebrate the World Series of cow breeding!
• Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 - John Boehner makes an appearance. No kidding!
• Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 - This ad finds Flossie and Bessie receiving a visit from their Fairy Godmother, I mean Bullmother.
  

• Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 - Pirates & Wenches invade the ranch. Also, there's a really bad pirate joke.
  
• Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 - Dragnet and Sgt. Joe Friday are on the case. Just the facts, ma'am.
  

2014 Ads

• Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 - Cheap shot at political ads. We customized a version for KFRM as a take off on "Plain Talk."

• Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014 - The LAST political ad of the season. We actually googled scary attack ad music and came up with the background music.

• Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 - We've moved off of politics and into a gunfight at the OK Corral.  Seems that Slim has been missing the genetic target. Special appearances by John Wayne & Miss Kitty.

• Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 - Advice to love-lorn cows from the experts at Cow Talk.
• Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 - Pretty low-key for us. We tried to get Kevin & Joe to reprise their now infamous "Duct Tape" ad, but they weren't cooperating.
  

2013 Ads

• Monday, October 28, 2013 - an ad poking fun at the government shutdown and the healthcare marketplace flop of a debut.

• Tuesday, October 29, 2013 - Scarlet O'Hara and Rhett Butler make an appearance as Scarlet wonders whatever shall she do to source bulls & heifers?

• Scarlet O'Hara out-take - Scarlet (Barb) was having a bit of trouble saying "profitability" with a heavy southern accent.  Hence, in the final version, Scarlet says "whether or not I make money" instead.  Note: there is a swear word in this one.

• Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 - Well, we finally did it; the term "Hump Day" has now appeared in our ad.  We fought it for a number of years, but the Geico camel has paved the way for us.

• Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 (Halloween) - Aliens have invaded DRI/KCC and need to procure seedstock for Planet Centurion.  "Take me to your breeder."

• Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 (SALE DAY!) - Finally, Joe and Kevin have had enough of our silliness. It's the infamous "Duct Tape" ad!
  

• From 2012 - Please note: this was the 2012 Sale.  It's just that it's one of our favorites.  The cows, Flossie & Bessie, end up at Madame Bovina's Fortune Telling because they're concerned about the drought.
