ale Summary

The 2009 sale was held under some of the most beautiful weather conditions ever.  Sunny, 70 degrees and no wind.  That was a blessing and a curse since harvest had been greatly delayed for some of the best crops in many years.  We appreciate that so many customers took the time to look at the offering ahead of the sale and make alternate arrangements.  Some took advantage of online bidding while a number of buyers left bids with us.  In the end, averages for both Black & Red Angus bulls were up, even with the down cattle market.  Bulls were very consistent around the average, reflecting the depth of the offering.  (Click here for videos of the black Angus bulls.)  As usual, BW affected price.  Commercial bred heifers were a little softer this year, as folks tightened their belts a bit.  However, the heifers still averaged considerably above the market, reflecting our customer's appreciation of our home-raised, heart of the herd replacements.

Cattle sold strongly locally, in state and out of state with over 80% going to repeat buyers.  We are humbled and especially gratified by that last figure since it tells us folks appreciate the quality of the cattle we produce and the integrity with which we do business.

2009 Sale Averages
25 Black Angus Bulls $2750
26 1A Red Angus Bulls $2800
58 Commercial Bred Heifers $1280
