Taken from the lead truck, the cows are trailing back behind for quite a ways.  They wouldn't walk anywhere but

the tire tracks.  Something about the path of least resistance.  You can see they were out in the middle of nowhere.

They'd been surviving on dormant native range and some protein supplementation.  I don't think anyone could call

these girls "pampered!"  Photos taken in late January.

 

About a week later.  The cows making their final move onto the calving brome.  We'd added a little snow on top

of the ice pictured earlier.  Fortunately, calving season itself wasn't too bad.  These cows started in late February

and went for a 75 day season.
