Club Awarded Two YAR Grants for Arena Improvements:

On Monday, April 9, 2007, several members of the Wab. Co. 4-H Horse Club met in Alma to make their case to the Youth As Resources (YAR) committee for two $300 grant applications.  First up, Taylor Nikkel, Anna Carpenter and Halen Hier presented an application requesting $300 in order to make additional repairs and improvements to the Mill Creek Cowboys' Arena.  On the list were making the announcer's booth pigeon proof, repairing gates and finishing the painting.  Next up were Sam Capoun, Britt Michaelis and Laura Carpenter.  Their project entailed additional tree plantings at the Arena in order to provide much needed shade for exhibitors, parents and community spectators.  With the improvements made last year, our arena will be in tip-top shape!

In addition, Club members Cooper Imthurn and Heath Hier applied for grants as part of their respective community 4-H clubs to make improvements at a local pre-school.  All 4 applications were each awarded $300 grants!

Thanks to parents Janice Nikkel, who wrote the grant applications, Stephanie Imthurn, Tonia Michaelis, Nancy Hier and Barb Downey, all of whom helped the kids prep and successfully present their proposals.
